Back End Application Engineer I

Your Role

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Back End Application Engineer I to help bring the best possible software solutions to educators.

As an early member of a growing team, you must possess a strong work ethic and be upbeat, driven, intelligent, well-organized, articulate, share a passion for learning new technologies, and thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment.

You will have the opportunity to immediately contribute and see the results of your work in use by students, teachers, parents and district administrators across the country.


  • Collaborate with engineers, UI/UX designers, and product owners to build & ship new features and maintain/enhance existing ones
  • Become proficient in multiple areas of our application, building and extending on top of core services to improve the platform and customer experience
  • Develop, ship, and support high quality features in our backend applications
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams in identifying and improving processes, product and platform



  • You have an education or equivalent experience in a software field
  • You have a solid foundational knowledge of software construction and patterns, networking, and database systems
  • You have at least 1 non-frontend project based on NodeJS, Typescript is a plus
  • You have a strong work ethic, and can operate independently on a full-time remote team
  • You have good organization and communication skills


Nice to Haves

  • Experience with backend frameworks such as NestJS
  • Experience in multiple languages, frameworks
  • Experience working with remote team members
